Why funeral plans make perfect sense.

Published on December 08, 2015

Whether it is our British ways or a dependency on the state to support us through many of our passages of right, Funeral Plans are not part of the everyday for most of us. Talking about our passing feels inherently uncomfortable for many of us yet, in recent weeks and months, funeral plans have become the focus of many discussions, news and even TV programmes.

The UK's largest charity for elderly people, Age UK, have recently confirmed the commercial sense and increasing need for funeral plans having played witness to the financial and emotional difficulties that continue to arise when people reach the end of their life without having a plan in place

In financial terms, a funeral plan allows you to pay for a funeral at today's prices and whilst that may not initially sound that enticing, when you consider that the cost of a standard funeral has increased 50% since 2007 and it set to rise another 50% by 2021, a plan starts to resemble a real money saving.

More than that though, taking out a funeral plan helps guide you through some of the issues that will arise at the end of life and encourage you to take control of these rather than passing the burden and pressures onto family and loved ones.
Shockingly, 2.1 million people in the UK do not know how they or their loved ones will meet the cost of their funeral and with a rise in living costs, lowering levels of disposable income and increasingly limited access to credit, more and more people are staring a huge financial and emotional pressure in the face when they lose someone they love.
What is most alarming, is that it is often the people most in need of a funeral plan that will be unable to find the impartial advice and guidance required to select and manage the right plan for them. People that have financial advisors or a high net worth that are well considered and protected for the future, will have plans and payments in place for their funeral but in reality this is becoming a need for the everyday individual who doesn't want to leave their family with the financial ties that are now connected to saying farewell.

If you want to discuss your plan or are keen to know more about how we can help you, please do get in touch and our team of expert advisors will be delighted to talk you through the financial, practical and emotional aspects of organising your funeral plan.
